Life Insurance

Life Insurance for people with Stickler Syndrome may be available with a number of insurers at non-standard terms. This will mean that any offer of Life Insurance made available to you will be at an increased premiums to those without the medical condition. In order to assess your application the insurer will want to know the severity of your symptoms, treatments in use, the areas affected by the condition and how long it has been since diagnosis. It is possible that the insurer will want to see a report from your GP to get a clear picture of how the condition affects you and your general state of health.

Hypermobility Syndromes Association (HMSA)

Members of the Hypermobility Syndromes Association (HMSA) often contact us to ask us whether we know where they can get affordable insurance cover for travel abroad. It is always shocking to hear of the high costs being quoted to members who have Marfan syndrome or Osteogenesis Imperfecta or the Ehlers-Danlos syndrome subtypes. Cura offers a comprehensive cover without penalising members of the HMSA for having genetic conditions. This is why the HMSA confidently directs members to Cura Insurance.

As an alternative you may wish to consider Accident, Sickness and Unemployment cover that provides between 12-24 months of short term income replacement in the event that you are unable to work due to disability, long-term injury or involuntary redundancy. Accident, Sickness and Unemployment policies are not medically underwritten which means that the cover can be put in place at a standard premium.
